Got Junk Mail??

Take a look at this site which will help reduce the amount of unsolicited mail coming to your mailbox. I don’t know how these companies found my address, but I get a lot of catalogs in the mail. I am sure many of you do too. CatalogChoice.org

TheBodyOnline.net - a link from cousin. The site has pictures of inner body organs organized into sections of back, thorax, abdomen, pelvis/perineum, head/neck, upper limb, and lower limb. Very interesting but “unappetizing” so don’t look before or after meal ;)

Medical Records Management

Google just recently came out with Google Health which is an online tool to help you manage your health records. I’ve just signed up and I was able to enter my conditions, the procedures done, medications, .. etc. It’s a good way to keep one’s medical records organized. Try it out!

MSKCC Online Access

Filed under: General on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008 by Cancer Guy | No Comments

I’ve just received an appointment letter today from the hospital MSKCC and inside it has information on how to enroll to get access to my account online! woohoo finally, I was wondering when they are going to provide it. So I applied and it looks like you are able to check appointment dates, send secure messages to the hospital, download billing statements, update insurance info as well as personal info! I believe from some dates on the site, it might have been available for about a year now. I guess I haven’t been to the hospital frequently enough to find out. Anyways, good to have all the information available together in one spot and conveniently accessible.

Real Customer Service

I have a problematic Sandisk Ultra II 4GB compact flash card. Every time I take some pictures, there are always some that come out corrupted. I have no problem using other cf cards with my camera so I concluded that it’s this card that needs to be replaced. I called Sandisk support and spent an hour “talking” to the support technician and can only understand 75% of what he was talking about… During the phone call, I would have to help him finish his sentence cuz he couldn’t pronounce certain words and was stuttering for a few seconds and then apologize for it, then repeat from the beginning. haha Anyways I think companies should not outsource support and customer service to foreign countries where English is not their primary language. I can just imagine how upset some customers can get when dealing with defective product and having to talk to a service person that they can’t understand. I think I’ll call back and see if I get a better customer servie rep another day.

Doctor’s Appointment

I had an appointment with Dr. Fong today. I was wondering if he’d still be in China cuz his daughters were competing in the Olympics. It turned out he’s back already. He was surprised to see me and asked me if I was ok and if everything is ok. I was a little puzzled about how serious he was so I asked him why and he told me I came in between CT scans so they assume there might be something wrong. I told him I was just following the follow up schedule they set for me. haha I did wonder if I needed to go see him but thought I should just go with the schedule. I guess I know next time to adjust the appointments to follow immediately after the CT scans. Remember not to rely totally on hospital for everything. If something seem incorrect, always ask!

Recycling UPS Batteries and Cancer

Filed under: General, Recycling on Saturday, August 23rd, 2008 by Cancer Guy | No Comments

Everyday when I go to my office I see these two UPS (uninterruptible power supply) laying around and I think it bothers me much subconsciously. I have done some research a couple of month ago and found the New York City special waste drop-off web site. The information was good, but there’s no phone number to call to confirm if an item is accepted at the facility. (it turns out you can call 311 for such info) Plus they only open on Saturdays, so I procrastinated until last night, I decided to just go take a look. This morning I wake up and feel like not going haha but due to the influence from certain book I hear (audio book) recently, I decided to follow through even tho I think I can spend the time on something else more productive. Basically one of the things I need to do is that I need to get rid of the clutter around the office and re-organize so I don’t get distracted when I go to work, that’s the priority. After breakfast I head out and got there in less than 5 minutes, it’s so close to my house!! There is a man there who took down my license plate cuz I only have 2 batteries. They will take additional info such as name and address if you have more items. The facility is for non-commercial and resident of NYC only. He told me to drop the battery into this container and that was it. Easy. I also saw car batteries, power tool batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, paint cans around. They also have containers for paint, motor oil and transmission oil for those who like to do their own oil change.

For those of you who live in NYC, you can find more info and drop-off locations at NYC’s Wasteless Site. For others, you will have to google it or call your local information phone number.

I am so glad I did it, now I can check it off my multi-page to-do list!

Everything is interrelated, the above mentioned items and other pollutants if not dispose of properly, end up in the water and soil, which may end up in our own body and possibly causing cancer. So for everyone and the environment’s sake let’s all recycle as much as we can!!

Heart Burn?

My chest felt kinda warm since 8/20 night. I think it started when I was doing some sit ups and it lasted for two days and then faded away. I wasn’t sure what it was but tonight I felt it again while during more sit ups. I think it’s the acidic stomach juice coming back up the esophagus. I better be careful..

Free You Mind

I recently read this book “The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich” and I really like it cuz it goes with the way I think and it provided some good tips and tricks that I can use. I am going to incorporate some of the ideas into my daily personal and business activities. For one I am going to “un-busy” myself. It does not mean getting lazy, it just means I need to stop doing things that are not important or unnecessary to free up my mind. Second is to reduce the frequency of email checking to twice per day. Third is to “de-clutter” my office and living space. Basically going Zen like ;) Less on your mind = less in stress = reduced chance of cancer recurrance. Not to mention you get more productive when you can focus on just one thing. Everyone should practice it!
