The Breast Cancer Hospitalization Bill

The following information is provided by Ashley Danielle.
A mastectomy is when a woman’s breast is removed in order to remove cancerous breast cells/tissue. If you know anyone who has had a mastectomy, you may know that there is a lot of discomfort and pain afterwards. Insurance companies are trying to make mastectomies an outpatient procedure. Let’s give women the chance to recover properly in the hospital for 2 days after surgery.

It takes 2 seconds to do this and is very important… please take the time and do it really quick!

The Breast Cancer Hospitalization Bill – Important legislation for all women.

Please send this to everyone you know (in the USA). If there was ever a time when our voices and choices should be heard, this is one of those times. If you are receiving this, it’s because I think you will take the 30 seconds to go to vote on this issue and send it on to others you know who will do the same. There’s a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy.

It’s about eliminating the “drive-through mastectomy” where women are forced to go home just a few hours after surgery, against the wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached. Lifetime Television has put this bill on their web page with a petition drive to show your support.

  1. I am a breast cancer survivor so I am speaking from experience. Outpatient surgery is definitely not the way that this should be handled. This is not like removing any other body part. The shock of losing a body part that is considered to make an incredible difference in my attractiveness, desire, and femininity is beyond measure. Will I lose my husband, boyfriend, love etc because of this surgery. It is not just my body that is recovering it is my mental state. The surgery itself is also a “big deal” and needs several days in the hospital.

  2. I would like to know who the insurance company’s think they are dealing with someones life like they do. They send Women Home way to early after that kind of surgery, would they send there wife or Mother home like that? I guess they would as they have no Heart in to these matters. I think the women should have the right to say when they are feeling well enough to go home.

  3. I THINK THAT IT IS SO CURL TO SEND SOMEONE HOME THE SAME DAY . THE INSURANCE COMPANY JUST DOES’NT WANT TO BE OUT ANY MONEY THEY WOULD WANT THEIR FAMILY TO HAVE THE BEST CARE ,AND SO DO WE . WE LOVE OUR FAMILIES AS MUCH AS THEY DO . I DON’T THINK GOD IS PLEASED WITH THIS KIND OF ACT FROM OUR INSURANCE COMPANY .
YOU KNOW THE OLD SAYING WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND.
GOD HAS REALLY BLESSED ME WITH GOOD HEALTH , AND I GIVE HIM THE PRAISE FOR IT EVERY DAY BUT I HAVE HAD LOVED ONES ,AND GREAT FRIENDS TO SUFFER THIS HORRIBLE THING THAT ATTACKS OUR BODY CALLED CANCER.
THEIR ARE NATURAL CURES OUT THERE THAT PEOPLE CAN DO , AND THAT WILL CUT THE INSURANCE COMPANY OUT ALL TO GATHER WHEN PEOPLE START HEALING THEMSELVES NATURALLY
LADIES GO TO YOUR HEALTH FOOD STORES ,AND MAKE SURE EVERYTHING YOU DO IS ALL NATURAL ,AND ORGANIC

  4. My friend had a complete mastectomy and reconstruction done at a Woman’s Hospital. They kept her overnight and sent her home with all the paraphenalia. She said and I quote, “I hurt so bad I wanted to die and wished I could have; the pain was horrendous.”

This suffering is so unncessary and it’s time we stand up and say NO MORE! PLEASE PUT A STOP TO THIS INHUMANE TREATMENT.

LET THE INSURANCE COMPANIES HEAR WHAT MISERY AND SUFFERING THEY ARE NEEDLESSLY CAUSING.

Thank you for letting me vent about this problem.
