Pre-Meds

Time really fly fast, it’s already time for the follow up checkup. I have a CT Scan appointment on Wednesday 1/9 and I need to be pre-medicated with anti-allergic pills. First is Prednisone and second is Diphenhydram commonly know as Benadryl. People normally do not need to be pre-medicated, but I was having minor hive from the contrast dye they inject into the body while scanning so they require me to take the anti-allergic pills. The hive I had was just two mosquito bite-like red bumps. I discovered it after finishing the scan and while changing back to street cloth. What’s funny was that I thought they were bug bites and I wast thinking to myself how can they have bugs in the hospital. I should notify the staff so they can have the gowns or changing area cleaned up. It turned out that I was allergic to the iodine in the contrast dye haha The Prednisone is to be taken 3 times; one at 13 hours, one at 7 hours and one at 1 hour before the scan. Benadryl just an hour before the scan. I had to phone in to the pharmacy and doctor’s office for the refill prescription. As always, Target processed them really fast and it was available for pick very soon.

I actually forgot whether I have to stop eating 12 hours or 2 hours before CT Scan so I called the office and they confirmed it’s 2 hours. Thank goodness I don’t have to go to the city without food for more than half a day!! It’s only been about 4 months and I have already forgotten things. I need to more diligently record down what I remember from the treatments/surgeries.
