Surgery Note
I was talking to my sister today and she told me something I said before she found amusing. I told her months back that one of the most painful things about the surgery is not the surgery itself, but it’s when the nurse came to remove this tube from my mouth/esophagus. This happened when I had my first surgery which involved removing part of the colon. The tube is connected to this suction device used to suck out any fluid from entering the digestive system. I just remember laying there and the nurse told me it’ll be really uncomfortable but it’ll be quick. She started to pull and break and sucking the fluid with another device and pull. I was gagging and tearing this whole time and it felt like forever. And finally the entire tube came out. It was a great feeling after cuz I had the tube in my mouth for days and I couldn’t really talk or close my mouth. My lips were dry and need to be wet with sponge. Oh yeah I remember they had this clear cylindrical container for storing the sucked out fluid. The fluid is dark greenish. It’s the bile they said. Pretty nasty looking stuff.
