Got my CT Scan done today. The entire trip took around 4 hours but the actual scan took only less than 10 mins! If only they can invent some kind of home use device for self scanning, it’d be so convenient. As always, I drank a lot, I mean a lot of water after the scan to flush out the dye/contrast liquid ingested orally and through IV. They said 8 glasses within 24 hours but I think I must have drank like 16 glasses or more haha I had to go to the bathroom all day. Interesting, I remember every time after I had my scan and took the anti-allergic medicine Prednison, I couldn’t sleep the next night, but this time I had no problem sleeping. I wonder if the drug has less effect on me now or I use to get too excited after the scan either from thinking about the scan result or just business ideas. I can never be sure of it. haha

I saw the the doctor today and the ct scan came back with great result, still no sign of cancer!! The doctor gave me the option to have the medi-port implant for chemotherapy removed and of course I agreed to it! The procedure will be done on Tuesday 6/10 which is about 3.5 weeks from today. Even though the medi-port, or what I called my third nipple does not bother me too much, it does in occasion get “caught” and give a minor pinch while wearing a car seat belt or moving things that require the object to lean against the chest. I think I will miss it or maybe not haha The doctor mentioned it’s been 16 months since my last chemotherapy, 16 months, time really fly by fast.

I did consult with the doctor about the stomach pain. Initially they said it can be caused by the contrast dye ingested before ct scan. A lot of people have diarrhea after taking the liquid. I updated them on that I did not have diarrhea but indigestion and they believe the anti-allergy medicine Prednisone is more likely to be the candidate for my condition. My stomach pain was still there at the doctor’s appointment but the belly is not as bloated as previous days. There were a lot of bowel movements in the morning. By night time I don’t really have the pain anymore, so I had a nice seafood meal for dinner with some long lost friends from high school. It is a really great day for me

Phlebotomist – an individual trained to draw blood. I just want to write this word down somewhere because I can’t remember it. Usually I call them vampires, it’s much easier to pronounce What triggered this is that I bumped into Kevin, a phlebotomist, who’s the first to teach me that word because I called him a nurse which is not the right title and I still do. haha

I have been having a bloated stomach for the past 3 days and some minor pain here and there around the belly button area. When pressed upon, the abdomenal felt hard like a fully inflated volleyball. There were very little bowel movement since Tuesday and every time after a meal I just feel like laying down. I believe it’s indigestion because it’s listed as one of the side effects on the prescription label of one of the anti-allergy medicine I took for ct scan. I never really know what indigestion is like so I am not sure but I think this is what it is. The pre-med I took is called Prednisone. It is strange because I don’t think I had stomach problem with it before. It use to give me difficult time sleeping on the night that I take it. I would be awake the entire night no matter how hard I tried to fall asleep. And the next day I would be all tired all day. Good thing it doesn’t last more than one night. I usually sleep like a baby the next night. So what’s strange is this time I slept well but the side effect is indigestion instead. I wonder if my body has changed to react differently or the drug content has been made with slight variation to it. By Thursday night, I started to have more bowel movement and my stomach is less hard than the previous days. The pain was still there but seems like it is decreasing. However, any pain in the stomach area just reminds me of what happened two years ago, even tho the pain is different and at different ara. I can’t really describe it but I felt different. I’ll consult with the doctor tomorrow.

Time really fly fast, it’s already time for the follow up checkup. I have a CT Scan appointment on Wednesday 1/9 and I need to be pre-medicated with anti-allergic pills. First is Prednisone and second is Diphenhydram commonly know as Benadryl. People normally do not need to be pre-medicated, but I was having minor hive from the contrast dye they inject into the body while scanning so they require me to take the anti-allergic pills. The hive I had was just two mosquito bite-like red bumps. I discovered it after finishing the scan and while changing back to street cloth. What’s funny was that I thought they were bug bites and I wast thinking to myself how can they have bugs in the hospital. I should notify the staff so they can have the gowns or changing area cleaned up. It turned out that I was allergic to the iodine in the contrast dye haha The Prednisone is to be taken 3 times; one at 13 hours, one at 7 hours and one at 1 hour before the scan. Benadryl just an hour before the scan. I had to phone in to the pharmacy and doctor’s office for the refill prescription. As always, Target processed them really fast and it was available for pick very soon.

I actually forgot whether I have to stop eating 12 hours or 2 hours before CT Scan so I called the office and they confirmed it’s 2 hours. Thank goodness I don’t have to go to the city without food for more than half a day!! It’s only been about 4 months and I have already forgotten things. I need to more diligently record down what I remember from the treatments/surgeries.

about a month ago, my cousin sent me a link to someone’s page, who’s about the same age as I am and having similar late stage cancer (cancer tumors in colon and liver). He was diagnosed in January of 2007 was going through chemotherapy treatment. I was thinking about visiting him but decided not to because from the blog posted by his family, he was too weak and they had to limit the visits to 5 minutes per person. I was just wondering what he’s condition is and today another message came in and it’s about his funeral. He actually passed away a day after the day I received the link to his story… i really don’t know what to say… another fellow cancer fighter went down…

my heart goes out to his family and friends. r.i.p km.

Target Drug Containers – Photo by Bigfly

Where do you buy your medicine? We have purchased them from Duane Reade, local shop, hospital Pharmacy, and Target Pharmacy. The one we like the most is Target Pharmacy. Their service is fast, the medicine bottle is nice (see photo). There is a band on the neck of the bottle with different colors that one can choose to distinguish one’s drugs from others living in the same household. Isn’t that a great design or what? As you can see, mine is yellow They have also recently extended their operating hours. For weekdays, it’s 9am-9pm, for Sat and Sun is 9am-6pm! Nice! It use to close at 7pm so you kinda have to rush after work to get it. This is for the ladies, an advantage of buying from Target is you can shop while you wait. The price is cheaper too. Co-Pay is $10 for non-branded drugs, they only charge $6.49!

Anyone got a better pharmacy to go to, let me know!
